Probate is compulsory when:
The Will is made by a Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh or Jain, and
The Will relates to immovable property located in:
Mumbai
Chennai (Madras)
Kolkata (Calcutta)
This is because these are the presidency towns as per the law.
